Rohit Sharma In Line To Scale Massive Record In The First T20I Against South Africa
India will begin their home series against South Africa with the three-match T20I series on September 15 (Sunday) in Dharamsala. Vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who has been their go-to man with the bat in the last three-four months will look to keep up the good form. He will be in line to scale a massive record during the first encounter.
Since the ICC World Cup, Rohit has looked like a completely different batsman. He has been the highest scorer and notched five centuries in the World Cup. Rohit Sharma kept up his fine form against West Indies and provided good starts in the limited-overs games.
He will look to keep up the excellent work against a formidable Proteas side. Rohit will also aim to become the leading run-getter against the opponent in T20Is. With 340 runs against South Africa, Rohit stands 84 runs short of Martin Guptill’s tally of 424 runs.

Rohit Sharma’s run tally has come at an average of 37.88 (best among batters who have played more than five T20Is against South Africa) including two fifties and a century. The Mumbai-born cricketer will also hope to extend his lead as the highest run-scorer in the T20Is.
With 50 runs shorts, India skipper Virat Kohli is currently breathing on his shoulders. Moreover, Rohit Sharma (8291) also needs 38 more runs to leapfrog Suresh Raina (8329) to become India’s second-highest run-getter in the T20Is. Kohli (8475) leads the chart currently.
South Africa will have to find someone in their bowling unit who can nullify the threat of Rohit. The swashbuckling batsman has struggled against Proteas fast bowler Junior Dala. The short-height pacer has dismissed Rohit three times within seven deliveries as Rohit Sharma could only manage to score four runs against him.
