Monty Panesar Picks His Favourite For The World Test Championship
ICC World Test Championship has just begun its journey with the ongoing Ashes series. India have set the standard high taking the top spot early in the competition. Former England spinner Monty Panesar has picked Australia as the favourite to win the debut tournament.
The Aussies have produced a thorough effort in the Ashes by retaining the urn. Tim Paine became the first captain since 2001 to return with urn after Steve Waugh. Australia were the best of the two teams and deservedly took the 2-1 lead with the fifth and final Test going on.
Steve Smith made a historic return to Test cricket from the exile. He has score three centuries including a double hundred and two fifties in the five innings he has batted. The Aussie batsman, who reclaimed his no 1 Test ranking from Virat Kohli has been the difference between both the sides.

Former England spinner Monty Panesar in an interview with TOI has picked Australia as the favourites for the two-year-long World Test Championship. The final of the competition will take place at the Lord’s in June 2021.
“Australia. The way they are playing and dominating, I am sure they will win the championship,” Panesar said.
Currently, India lead the points chart with 120 points having won both the Test against West Indies. New Zealand and Sri Lanka, with one win each, are in second and third place, respectively, with 60 points. Australia, who have won two Tests and drawn one, are at 56 points in the fourth place.
Tim Paine & Co will have a chance to go upto the second spot if they manage to beat England in the fifth and final Test at the Oval.
