MSK Prasad Reveals Why Yuzvendra Chahal And Kuldeep Yadav Were Not Included For The South Africa Series
India have kept out the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal for the upcoming three-match T20I series against South Africa. While many thought it is the end of the road for them in the shorter formats, chairman of selectors MSK Prasad revealed why they didn’t consider them for the upcoming series.
The Men in Blues will be high on confidence after inflicting a whitewash over West Indies. The young spinners in Washington Sundar and Rahul Chahar alongside Krunal Pandya did an outstanding job with the ball. The selectors have persisted with them against South Africa as well.
Although the Proteas under the leadership of Quinton de Kock will be a tougher opponent but the selectors have shown trust in the young spinners. Speculations rose where the time has come for Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, MSK Prasad squashed those reports.

The former India cricketer turned-selector said that they are trying to create a pool of spinners ahead of the World T20. Prasad also said Kuldeep and Chahal are still ahead in the race for the 2020 World T20.
“In order to bring variety in the spin bowling department, we have been trying youngsters keeping in view of the T20 World Cup in Australia. Chahal and Kuldeep have been outstanding performers in the shorter formats in the last two years. They are definitely ahead in the race now. It’s just that we are trying few other options now,” Prasad said to India Today.

Furthermore, MSK Prasad heaped praise on young cricketers including fast bowler Navdeep Saini. Prasad also hailed Shreyas Iyer, who has almost cemented the no 4 spot with his recent outings against West Indies. He said that Iyer has matured as a batsman who can bat according to the situations.
“In shorter formats, we have seen Shreyas Iyer emerging as a matured batsman who can play to the situations and demands of the team and deliver accordingly. Similarly, we have seen (Navdeep) Saini, Krunal (Pandya), Washington (Sundar) progressing well in shorter formats,” he concluded.
