England Fast Bowler Tom Curran Ruled Out Of The Season

Tom Curran

England fast bowler Tom Curran will miss the remainder of the season owing to a side injury he suffered playing for Surrey against Sussex in the Twenty20 Blast. The young cricketer sustained the injury on Thursday, and after the scans report came out, it was sure that he will miss the remainder. This comes as a second blow to England in two days after Olly Stones’ side strain ruled him out of any further action in this season.

England suffer double blows

Tom Curran was a part of England victorious World Cup-winning squad who lifted their first prestigious trophy. However, the 24-year-old pacer didn’t feature in any one of the game as the host persisted with Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood and Liam Plunkett. Curran has played one first-class, two List A and ten T20 Blast matches for Surrey this season, taking 26 wickets in total. He was in spectacular form in this season, but an untimely injury will put him back in the race for a national spot.

The right-arm pacer will now undergo a rehabilitation ahead of England’s off-season tours of New Zealand and South Africa. Tom Curran will be keen to regain his fitness and return to the national set-up for those two tours. Curran, who made his England debut in 2007 has played two Test matches, 17 ODIs, and 11 T20Is claiming 41 wickets in total. He is also useful with the bat scoring crucial runs in the lower-order.

Meanwhile, England are fighting to level the series after going down in the Edgbaston Test against Australia. The host currently leads by 94 runs in the second Ashes Test with six wickets in hand with only one more day to play in a rain-marred encounter.
