Heinrich Klaasen Replaces Injured Rudi Second For India Tests
South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen has replaced injured Rudi Second for the three-Test match series against India. Rudi Second suffered an injury while practicing for South Africa A and he will need immediate surgery. Subsequently, Klaasen who had performed well against India in 2018 gets his chance.
Meanwhile, Heinrich Klaasen has been in great form in the shortest format of the game. The right-hander was the second-highest run-getter in the recently concluded Global T20 Canada league. The Proteas batsman had scored 326 runs in the seven innings while playing for Toronto Nationals. Thus, Klaasen will like to replicate the same form in the longest form of the game.
Second’s loss is Klaasen gain.
“Klaasen is part of the one-day squad for the South Africa A tour and he will now be added to the squad in Second’s place for the four-day series that will assist his preparation for the Proteas Test series,” CSA Acting Director of Cricket Corrie van Zyl said.
In fact, Heinrich Klaasen is yet to make his debut in the Test fold. The keeper-batsman has featured in 14 One Day Internationals and nine T20Is for the Rainbow Nation. On the other hand, Rudi Second has been a regular in First-Class cricket as he has scored 6893 runs at an average of 45.05 in 105 matches.
