CAC Unlikely To Take Part In Team India’s Support Staffs Selection
The selection panel headed by former cricketer MSK Prasad will pick Ravi Shastri’s coaching team on August 19 (Monday). The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), who picked Shastri for a second term, wished to be a part of the selection procedure of the support staffs. However, it is unlikely to happen due to a shortage of time.
The Kapil Dev-led CAC, including Anshuman Gaekwad and Santha Rangaswamy, unanimously expressed their desire to be a part of the interview process of the support staffs. The former India skipper also revealed that they have communicated their wish to BCCI. Dev also revealed that they have already sent their recommendations to BCCI.

“Yes, our opinion should be there. If you ask me, we have (sent) a recommendation to the Board about the selection process of the support staff as well. It is not right, if we are not doing that job also,” Kapil had said.

The selectional panel headed by MSK Prasad will conduct the interview process to pick the batting, bowling and fielding coaches. However, it is unlikely that CAC will take any part in interviewing the candidates. There are no chances to amend the BCCI constitution in this short time span. The interview process will commence from 10 AM on Monday.
“There is no time left for the constitutional amendment. It’s already Saturday today and tomorrow the offices are closed. The interviews will start at 10 am on Monday. For CAC to be a part of the support staff selection process, the legal team needs to vet it and the necessary changes need to be incorporated. Unfortunately, there is no time for that,” a senior BCCI official, privy to the development, told PTI.
There will be a tough fight for the support staff roles. The main fight will be for the post of the batting coach as BCCI seemed not happy with the work of Sanjay Bangar. Former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes will also give a tough fight to R Sridhar for the fielding coach job. Bharath Arun, on the other hand, is favourite to retain his post as the bowling coach.
