The flamboyant batsman smashed it brilliantly to help Australia seal the first win of the series. Meanwhile, the former cricketer of Australia Chris Rogers believes Steve Smith can surpass the record of Sachin Tendulkar.
Smith played a knock of 144 runs against England to rescue Australia from 122/8 and take the team’s total to 284 runs in the first innings of the match. This innings by Smith was lauded by the legendary cricketers across the globe.
In the second innings, once again, he made things fall in place for Australia. He continued his glorious form with the bat to register the second century of the match. Rightly, he was adjudged as the man of the match

Former Australia opener Chris Rogers on Tuesday hailed Steve Smith for his stupendous form during the first Ashes Test against England and said he’s in the league of the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.
“He is right up there. The fact that he has gotten better is pretty incredible. I was lucky enough to play against Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and AB devilliers and Steve (Smith) is in their league. If he is going to continue what he is doing then he is going to force his way past them,” said Rogers.
It will be tough for England:
Chris Rogers also lauded the team for their brilliant show against the Englishman. He believes that the upcoming game would be the perfect opportunity for the batsmen to show their class for the team.
“The way we played and the confidence we got as a side out of that… to win from a tough position will hold us in good stead. If we get a good start in the second Test it will be tough for England.”

After starting the Test in fourth place and with 857 points, the formerly top-ranked batsman Steve Smith is back above the 900-point mark along with Kohli (922) and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson (913).
