Virat Kohli Overtakes Javed Miandad, Scales Massive Record
India have made an outstanding start in the second ODI against West Indies in Trinidad after a washout in the first game. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli surpassed former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad as he led India’s revival after the early departure of Shikhar Dhawan.

The Men in Blues named an unchanged XI in the second ODI while Jason Holder had to make a forced change. Unfit Fabian Allen had to sit out while fast bowler Oshane Thomas made a comeback to the playing XI. West Indies got a breakthrough in the first over of the match removing Shikhar Dhawan, whose poor run with the bat continues. Since then, Virat Kohli led the revival of India with another swashbuckling knock.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli needed just 19 runs to get to past Javed Miandad’s tally of most ODI runs against runs. The Pakistan great had needed 64 matches to score 1930 runs against West Indies. The Indian skipper who looked in outstanding touch needed just 34 matches to scale the milestone. Mark Waugh (1708), Jacques Kallis (1666), and Ramiz Raza (1624) complete the list of top five among batsman with most ODI runs against West Indies.
Speaking about the game, West Indies made a solid come back after Virat Kohli had revived India’s innings. They removed Rohit and Rishabh Pant in quick succession to have India at 101 for three but Kohli held the ship tight. He partnered Shreyas Iyer, who was auditioning for the number four spot to take India to a respectable total. They added a massive partnership as India look to post a daunting task ahead of West Indies to chase down the target.
