India bowed out of the semifinals of the ICC World Cup 2019 losing to New Zealand by 18 runs on July 10 at the Old Trafford. Ravindra Jadeja starred in the game with both ball and bat; however, ended in a losing note. His wife, Rivaba Solanki revealed that Jadeja was inconsolable after their shocking exit.

New Zealand seamers Matt Henry and Trent Boult starred with the ball to defend a moderate target set by them over two days. They removed India’s top-order batters in no time to have them at five for three and then at 24 for four. Although India put their best feet forward with two partnership, the dismissal of Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni after a 100-run stand was the final nail in the coffin. Previously, batting first, half-centuries from Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson had propelled New Zealand to 239 runs in rain-marred first innings. The target proved too much for Virat Kohli & Co as hey fell 18 runs short at Manchester.

Ravindra Jadeja scored a valiant 77-run knock in just 54 balls after starring with the ball returning with one for 34 in his quota of 10 overs. Jadeja only played in two matches and impressed in those limited opportunities. Rivaba Solanki revealed that Jadeja took a lot of time to come to terms with their shocking defeat.

“He was inconsolable after the loss and kept saying, ‘If I wouldn’t have got out, we could’ve won’. When you lose a match after coming this close, it really hurts and it will be a while before he comes to terms with it,” Rivaba told to Bombay Times.

Furthermore, Rivaba Solanki wasn’t surprised at all with the outstanding knock of Ravindra Jadeja that had the whole of India at its feet. She highlighted that Jadeja had always been the go-to-man for India in the big games.

“If you look at his journey, he has always performed in crunch games, taking wickets and scoring vital runs. When we won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, he was the man of the match in the final for his all round performance,” he concluded.
