PCB Set to Reduce Players in its Central Contract:

After finishing fifth on the points table, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to follow Cricket West Indies (CWI) concept of squeezing the players’ list for the central contract.

In its unique move, the board is aiming to use the moving for the domestic fold.

Moreover, it has been said that ‘E’ categorically will stand null and void.

In August 2018, Pakistan had handed a contract to 33 players for one year.

Sanjay Jagdale, who has represented BCCI’s selection committees that picked the squads for the 2003 World Cup before 2007 World Cup, spoke about Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik.

Jagdale maintained that he doesn’t feel sorry for Rayudu and Karthik. Rayudu had recently announced retirement from international cricket.

The ex-selector revealed the duo had been playing for so long and one can’t pick a player based on IPL result. He conceded that players are supposed to perform in overseas conditions as well.

Rashid Khan to Lead Afghanistan Across All-Formats:

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has been named as the captain of the team across all the three formats. Former Afghanistan skipper Asghar Afghan has been named as the vice-captain of the side.

Afghanistan cricket board has decided to invest in young blood. However, Rashid Khan didn’t have the best of the World Cup as he scalped six wickets in the World Cup.

Gulbadin Naib captaincy was not up to the mark in the tournament.

AB de Villiers Narrates his Ordeal:

AB de Villiers has come up with his side of the story. Also, it was reported that AB de Villiers was looking to get into South Africa’s squad before the World Cup.

However, de Villiers cleared that he never asked himself and the selectors had asked him whether he plans to play in the World Cup after he had announced his retirement. AB de Villiers had said a ‘yes’, but he said he never tried to force himself back into the team.

Sourav Ganguly

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly stated that it was a blunder from the team management as they batted MS Dhoni at number seven against New Zealand in the first semifinal at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Furthermore, India had their backs against the wall at 5-3, and it would have been ideal for promoting Dhoni up in the middle order as he has all the experience of batting in crunch situations.

Furthermore, Dhoni could not take India over the line despite scoring 50 off 72 deliveries.

Marais Erasmus and Kumar Dharmasena to Officiate in the World Cup Finale:

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have named Marais Erasmus and Kumar Dharmasena to officiate in the final of the World Cup 2019. Besides, Lord’s in London will host the grand finale on the 14th of July.

Both of these umpires had also officiated in the semifinal between England and Australia which the former won by eight wickets.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan umpire Dharmasena had come under the scanner when he ruled Jason Roy out when there was no bat. Australia’s players had appealed, and Dharmasena gave the decision in favour of the visitors.
