Williamson has thus far scored 548 runs in the eight innings at an average of 91.33 and strike rate of 76.32. The stylish right hander scored a fine knock of 67 runs off 95 balls in the ongoing semifinal match against India.
Kane Williamson has so far scored two centuries and three fifties in the ongoing tournament. Hence, the right-hander has batted at the top of his game. Meanwhile, New Zealand opening batsman Martin Guptill had scored 547 runs in the 2015 edition of the World Cup.
Guptill who isn’t in the best of forms in the ongoing World Cup had scored a double hundred in the quarter-final against West Indies. The right-hander had scored 237 runs in an innings in the previous edition of the World Cup.
Furthermore, Scott Styris had scored 499 runs in the 2007 edition of the World Cup. Former legendary batsman Martin Crowe had amassed 456 runs in the 1992 World Cup. Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming scored 353 runs in the 2007 edition of World Cup.
On the other hand, Kane Williamson also equaled the record of most runs by a captain in the World Cup. Former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene had also scored 548 runs in the 2007 World Cup.
Furthermore, Ricky Ponting had scored 539 runs in the successful World Cup triumph of the 2003 edition. Aaron Finch has thus far scored 507 runs in the 2019 World Cup whereas AB de Villiers had scored 482 runs in the 2015 edition.
