Mets supervisor Mickey Callaway cursed at a press reporter, and pitcher Jason Vargas had to be limited from charging him throughout a fight in the group’s clubhouse after a loss Sunday.

The dustup with beat author Tim Healey of Newsday took place after the Mets blew a late lead in a 5-3 defeat to the Cubs at Wrigley Field. There was no physical contact.

In a story released by Newsday on Sunday night, Healey stated Mets chief running officer Jeff Wilpon called him “to apologize on behalf of the organization.”
