ICC World Cup 2019: Want Hardik Pandya to be Better Than Me: Kapil Dev
Indian National Cricket Team all-rounder Hardik Pandya has already made his presence felt in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of Hardik Pandya has often made the fans and pundits compare him with the legendary India all-rounder Kapil Dev. However, Kapil wants Pandya to better him and said that the dynamic all-rounder needs to work on his bowling a bit.
Pandya needs to work on his bowling: Kapil
The dynamic all-rounder has landed in England on the back of some outstanding performances in the IPL. He led Mumbai Indians to their fourth IPL title with contributions from both bat and ball. In the 16 matches, he played over two months, Hardik Pandya has scored 402 runs at an average of 44.66. His 34-ball 91-run knock against Kolkata Knight Riders have earned special praise from the fans. Besides, he has also picked 16 wickets and has been outstanding in the field.

However, at times, Hardik Pandya’s bowling figures have had a poor impact on him as an all-rounder. Kapil Dev feels the young cricketer will have to work on his bowling aspects and heaped praise calling Pandya a great team man.
“Let’s not compare, let him play. We have already seen his rich talent and I want him to be better than me. He is an all-rounder, he has to perform in both the departments. Yes, he is a batting all-rounder I can feel that, so I hope he can improve in his bowling. He is a great team man and that is more important,” Kapil said to PTI.
Unfortunate for Shikhar to get injured: Kapil
Furthermore, Kapil Dev expressed his solidarity to the injured Shikhar Dhawan. The swashbuckling opener will be out of action for three weeks due to a blow he copped up during the game against Australia. Rishabh Pant has already sat on the plane to England to be as a backup if Dhawan fails to recover in time. Kapil is hopeful that whoever takes the spot will be able to make significant contributions.
“I feel sorry for him and I feel sorry about the team but you can’t do much about injuries. I can only think positive and whoever plays in his place, he might do even better. But yes you feel bad when such a big player is injured,” he added.
Next up, India will play New Zealand on June 13 (Thursday) at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
