However, this time, he will be in the coaching panel guiding the youngsters to defend the cup successfully. Of later, Jos Buttler is enjoying his time in the International Cricket. The flamboyant batsman has been at his best for the team, wherever or for whichever team he played. Meanwhile, the Australian Ricky Ponting terms Jos Buttler as the dangerman from England team in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.
Jos Buttler is the dangerman of England – Ricky Ponting
The former batsman Ricky Ponting believes that Jos Buttler is the tough nut to crack down in the upcoming grand event. He showered words of praise on the youngster and also lauded for his work ethics, which kept him at the top of his game.
“The dangerman for England is gonna be Jos Buttler. I just watched him develop over the last 2 or 3 years. I had a chance to coach him at Mumbai Indians 3 or 4 seasons ago when he was really sort of starting to make his mark in international cricket,” Ponting was quoted as saying in a video posted at Cricket Australia website.
He recalls his coaching days with Mumbai Indians, where he first met Jos Buttler, who is practising incredibly hard to make things fall in place. Ricky Ponting hails the work of Buttler, who did outstandingly well in all formats of the game.
“What he has done in the last 12 to 18 months whether, in a T20, One-Day game or a Test match for England, it’s really outstanding. So, Jos Buttler is England’s dangerman for me. He (Buttler) might not take the gloves but his middle-order batting is out of this world. He scores 360 degrees around the ground, hits the ball incredibly hard, hits the ball a long way as well,” he added.
Depth in the batting is England’s strength:
The most successful skipper in World Cup history Ricky Ponting further quoted that the England team got the best batting lineup, which bats pretty deep in the ODI format. He feels that it helps the openers to play the game with freedom.
“I think England’s great strength right now in their One-Day team is how deep they bat. That allows all their top-order to play probably with more freedom than most other teams,” Ponting said.
Well, as Ricky Ponting said, Jos Buttler will be one of the top batsmen to look out in the ICC World Cup 2019. He is one of the strong contenders to become the man of the tournament and a very important member of England for their chances in the tournament.
