South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has rung the warning bells for the Indian National Cricket team in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. The biggest cricketing extravaganza is all set to take off in ten days time, and the cricket lovers are eagerly waiting for the tournament opener between host England and South Africa on May 30. Meanwhile, the Proteas will play their third league game against the Men in Blues on June 5 at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in Southampton.

We owe India one: Ngidi

There is a massive buzz over the clash between Virat Kohli’s boys and South Africa. While India will only play their first game of the tournament, it will be the third for the Faf du Plessis & Co. However, much ahead of the game, Lungi Ngidi has issued a warning for the second-ranked ODI side. The young fast bowler who regained his fitness in time said that they owe India a loss following their 1-5 snubbing last year at home.

India handed a humiliating defeat to South Africa at their home after a dismal Test series. They completely dominated them to win the series 5-1, and the Proteas are looking for revenge when both the sides go against each other at Southampton. Ngidi believes it will be an exciting encounter between the top two teams of world cricket.

“I believe we owe them one,” the 23-year-old said.  “I’m looking forward to India. When they came here, they had a good series against us. So in my mind, I believe we owe them one. It would be a very exciting game for me. I’m sure it will be for all the guys as well,” he added.

Furthermore, Lungi Ngidi added that the last time South Africa played against India, they were missing more crucial player. And with them back in the ranks, the 23-year-old feels things will even out this time. South Africa is yet to win a World Cup despite coming close, and Ngidi seemed committed to bringing the trophy home this time. In conclusion, Ngidi said that England will be under pressure in the tournament opener as they will enter the tournament as the top-ranked ODI side and will play in front of their home crowd.
