Shadab Khan Will Be Fit For The World Cup: Sarfraz Ahmed
Just days ahead of the World Cup, Pakistan have received a massive boost. The spin spearhead Shadab Khan looks set to recover from his illness and play the mega-event in England and Wales. Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed gave a promising update on the spinner, thus allaying doubts about his fitness. Shadab is currently sidelined due to a viral illness.
The leg-spinner’s participation in the World Cup was in huge doubt after hw contracted an infection from a dentist’s unsterilised instruments. Blood tests confirmed that he had contracted the disease and he was subsequently ruled out from the ongoing England tour.

But according to reports in Pakistani media, Shadab has recovered from the infection and will be flying to England soon. According to The Dawn, Yasir Shah will now return home. Pakistan had included Shah in the squad after Shadab was ruled out. Shadab is currently recovering at home after visiting a specialist in London.
“We have good news about Shadab. He will be fit for the World Cup and we are excited to have him back,” Sarfraz said at the toss ahead of the third ODI against England.
But while Shadab Khan looks set to play the World Cup, fast-bowler Mohammad Amir’s chances of inclusion in the World Cup are diminishing after he was diagnosed with chicken pox. Amir is unlikely to play in the ongoing ODI series which will then make it tough for Pakistan to pick him up in the squad.

Amir was not named in the initially announced World Cup squad but was included in the side to face England in the ODI series which was a gateway to make a case for himself for World Cup selection. Meanwhile, the teams can make changes to their squads till May 23 without seeking any permission from the ICC.
The World Cup will start on May 30 with hosts England locking horns against South Africa in the tournament-opener. Pakistan will open their campaign on May 31 against West Indies.
