Indian National Cricket team have set their eyes sight on the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales starting from May 30. The Virat Kohli-led side will be keen to bring back the trophy to the country for the third time after 1983 and 2011. The men in blues have played excellent cricket in the last two years, and Kohli said they are looking forward to the tournament.
Meanwhile, Team India have defeated South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand at their home turf in recent times. Despite thier loss against Australia at home, cricket pundits and former cricketer have tipped them as the favourites to win the title. They are currently in the second spot in the ICC ODI rankings and will look to play a good brand of cricket to bring back the glory.
Our dressing room is like a living room
The national selectors headed by MSK Prasad on April 15 announced the 15-member squad for the marquee event. The selectors went with Vijay Shankar ahead of Ambati Rayudu and picked experienced Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant for his better wicket-keeping skills. Virat Kohli, who has always backed his players credited the management for creating a pleasant environment around this bunch.
“I think the whole management group the way they have handled the entire group, it creates a good environment where everyone is relaxed,” Kohli said to India Today.
Moreover, Virat Kohli added that their dressing room is like the living room where every cricketer is at ease and can speak their mind. He also added that the whole team have only one goal and everyone works towards it.
“Our change room is like a living room, chilled out with everyone relaxed. The Indian team has to be paramount and everyone and players respond in a very positive manner right from the management, myself, Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) being the senior most guy and everyone. There is one goal and everyone is in sync with that goal,” Kohli added.
In conclusion, Virat Kohli admitted that they have the most balanced side and the energy level among the players are high. He also seemed happy with the 15 players they have chosen for the quadrennial tournament. India will start their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5 at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in Southampton.
