ST. LOUIS — The struggling St. Louis Blues have positioned backup goaltender Chad Johnson on waivers and known as up Jordan Binnington to take his place.
The Blues put Johnson on waivers after recalling Binnington and sending ahead Sammy Blais down to the American Hockey League’s San Antonio Rampage. Johnson is 2-6-Zero with a three.54 goals-against common and .884 save share in 10 appearances this season.
St. Louis signed the 32-year-old Johnson to a $1.75 million, one-year contract within the offseason to substitute Carter Hutton as Jake Allen’s backup.
The Blues have misplaced 10 of their previous 14 video games, their 24 factors are tied for second-worst within the NHL and their .893 group save share ranks 25th out of 31 groups. Coach Mike Yeo was fired final month and changed by Craig Berube on an interim foundation.
